Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation has reached another milestone in its execution of underground works in 3.67 km stretch between Charbagh and Hussainganj when the TBM-Gomti (working on UP line) achieved Breakthrough at Hussainganj and successfully completed its 2nd drive of about 600m from Sachivalaya to Hussainganj underground Metro Station, passing beneath Burlington, Hussainganj Chauraha and some highly congested areas. With this achievement, Lucknow Metro has completed about 65% of the total scope of bored tunnelling workin the underground section, from Charbagh to Hazratganj, of the North- South Corridor of Lucknow MRTS, Phase 1A Project at Lucknow.
TBM-Gomti commenced tunnelling work from Sachivalaya Station on 21stSep 2017 and has taken just over 2 months to complete the 2nd drive between Sachivalaya and Hussainganj, successfully meeting all the technical and logistical challenges through a dedicated team of officials from Lucknow Metro, Contractor and General Consultant.
TBM- Gomti shall now be retrieved from the Receiving shaft near Hussainganj chauraha and taken to Launching shaft in front of Deen Dayal Park, Charbagh for undertaking its final drive on UP line between Charbagh Ramp and Hussainganj.
Second TBM viz. TBM-Ganga working in parallel on Down Line between Sachivalaya and Hussainganj has completed tunnelling of about 300m and is also expected to reach Hussainganj by end of December 2017.
The state of the art on board computerized tunnel guidance system have been provided in TBMs to ensure that the tunnelling is done as per the designed alignment to the highest level of accuracy. Extensive instrumentation has been done throughout the underground stretch and continuous online and real time monitoring is done by a team of dedicated experts to ensure safety during TBM operation.
