Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is set to begin demolition of properties between the KR Puram – Kempegowda International Airport Metro line route which originates from KR Puram and reaches the airport via Hebbal.
A senior BMRCL official said, “The survey has been conducted to ascertain how many properties will be affected. The property owners have been intimated too. We will soon receive a report on the exact number of properties to be demolished and will then start the process of paying compensation for the demolition and acquisition of the lands. The demolition work will start from March or April. After the demolition is completed, the work will be handed to the engineering department.”
The work for the partial and full demolition of building structures located between KR Puram and Kempegowda International Airport of BMRCL Phase 2B will be undertaken at the cost of Rs 1.44 crore and the tendering process has begun. Soon after the demolition, the work is set to start for the construction of the line. Officials say that the demolition work will be carried out in several phases so as to avoid traffic jams and inconvenience for commuters. The airport line is projected to be completed by 2024.
