Eight-lane flyover to unclog Parthala Chowk, Noida

The Noida Authority has finally selected the consultant to prepare the design and details of a flyover at Parthala Chowk, one of the busiest intersections in the city. The flyover will connect sectors 121 and 123 and will be built along Vikas Marg. Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) Limited has been selected as the consultant to prepare the decongestion plan for Parthala Chowk.

According to an initial survey by the Authority, Parthala Chowk sees more than 28,000 vehicles during peak hours. Over next few years, the traffic police, expects the volume of traffic at this intersection to increase by 60-70%.

Details of the proposed design of the flyover are being worked upon by DIMTS, which will clarify all specifications related of orientation, alignment and distance from the upcoming metro line. “DIMTS will submit a plan at the earliest. It’s likely to be approved during the Authority’s board meeting on January 31.

The cost estimates would be submitted too. Proposal is nearly ready and is being reviewed by the CEO,” said an official from the Noida Authority. According to the proposal, the flyover will be about 780 metres long and have eight lanes. A foot overbridge is also being made in the vicinity that will connect with the upcoming metro station near Sector 122. The alignment of the metro line and the flyover, that’ll be parallel to each other, were also discussed before finalising the proposal.

The Authority had earlier set aside Rs 90 crore for developing a flyover skirting Parthala Chowk near Sector 121. After conducting a survey, officials had made a presentation before the Authority CEO about six months ago. They had finalised a flyover that would have connected Gaur Chowk in Noida Extension to Balaknath crossing near Sector 71. But, the project was put on hold after the Authority sought more clarity on the design and budget requirements.
