The Aqua line of the Noida Metro registered its highest daily ridership since the beginning of operation in January last year as visitors throng the public transport facility to visit the Auto Expo at the Knowledge Park, in Greater Noida.
As many as 32,923 people rode the newly constructed metro line on 7th February, Friday as against an average daily ridership of about 25,000, according to official data, said one person in the know asking not to be named. “The daily ridership has never crossed 30,000 before,” the person said.
The ticketing infrastructure at the Noida Sector 51 station, which is the closest station on the line to the Blue line of the Delhi Metro, was heavily stressed. Queues for tickets stretched long as many visitors of the biennial motor show were not regular travellers on the Aqua line and did not hold smart cards.
