A citizen’s group in Hyderabad on Monday, 16th March 2020, requested Metro Rail authorities to extend corridor-1 (LB Nagar-Miyar) up to Patancheru. The Citizens group, Forum to Improve Things, said the original plan of Hyderabad Metro phase-2 must be adhered to.
“It is a matter of deep concern for lakhs of residents dwelling in and around Madinaguda, Chanda Nagar, BHEL, RC Puram, Ameenpur, Beeramguda, Patancheru and other areas, that Metro line till Patancheru was not considered in the DPR submitted recently to government by HMRL,” they said in a representation to HMRL managing director NVS Reddy.
It said, “We would like to reinstate that any public transport system must originate from the starting point of traffic. The distance from BHEL to Patancheru is around 6km and Patancheru has ORR connectivity hence this can become a very good starting point for Metro commuters besides having good commercial viability.”
