Bangalore Metro to Resume Work

Construction of Metro projects in the City was likely to resume yesterday (Thursday, 23rd April 2020) exactly a month after the work was completely stopped due to the lockdown. No other construction activity, including infrastructure works taken up by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), is allowed to resume.

Metro officials said they would start the work on a small scale by working out a plan for supplying logistics and transportation issues. “It would take about a week for the full-fledged work to begin,” a senior BMRCL official said.

Resuming works on Mysore Road and Kanakapura Road might get preference as these projects are nearing completion. Contractors plan to start work only at the casting yard and slowly take up work at the Metro station sites once the materials are ready. They are yet to get an instruction on the standard operating procedure from BMRCL.
