The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has appointed two new contractors for the civil works on a stretch of the 17km long Metro Line 7 corridor between Dahisar and Andheri on Western Express Highway.
The earlier contractor Sinplex infrastructure’s contract was terminated earlier this year, as it had completed only 75 per cent work on package 7, which is a 5.5km stretch between Aarey junction and Andheri on Western Express Highway (WEH).
MMRDA commissioner RA Rajeev said, “The package originally alloted to Simplex has been divided into two categories – Vaiduct and Stations. The work for viaduct has been bagged by J Kumar and NCC will complete the station work.”
MMRDA has already encashed the bank guarantee of Rs 35 crore from Simplex. The total cost of constructing the entire 16.5km long corridor was 960 crore.
