Bengaluru Metro soars over B Naranayapura Flyover

The much-awaited Byappanahalli-Whitefield (15km) corridor has got a major fillip with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) completing work on the viaduct crossing over B Naranayapura flyover near KR Puram.

BMRCL officials said they’ve launched the viaduct between proposed KR Puram and Mahadevapura stations on June 4. “While B Naranayapura flyover is 10.7m from the ground level, the elevated viaduct is 20.7m. This means the viaduct is 10 m above the flyover,” said BMRCL chief public relations officer BL Yeshwanth Chavan. He said length of the Metro’s span over the flyover is 31m.

“Average height of piers on the Byappanahalli-Whitefield section is around 10-11m as it increases at the stations and decreases at other locations,” added Chavan. While the section’s earlier deadline was August 2021, it’s likely to be delayed due to Covid-19 outbreak and lockdown.

ITD Cementation India Ltd is executing work on the line under Namma Metro’s Phase 2. BMRCL records show 65% of civil works have been completed between Byappanahalli and Visvesvaraya Industrial Area and 78% between Visvesvaraya Industrial Area and Whitefield.
