The Uttar Pradesh government has allotted 20 acres of land for the construction of new metro coaches. According to the government, in this project, the companies will invest Rs 300 crore approximately, and more than 10,000 people will get indirect employment.
It is in the Yamuna Authority area of Greater Noida, that Indian companies have been invited to make the Metro coaches. This will be the first unit in Uttar Pradesh to manufacture such coaches.
Authority CEO Dr Arunveer Singh confirmed that 20 acres of land had been allotted to PPS International Company. The Indian company will make metro coaches on the lines of ‘Made in India’ and ‘Make in India’ slogan of the Indian government. This company will make ‘Metro Light’ and ‘Metro New Coaches’. Stainless steel coaches will be made based on German technology. These coaches are now used in most metros across the country. However, these coaches will be smaller than the currently running metro coaches, but their speed will remain the same.
In the initial phase, Rs 115 crore is the amount the company will invest, and around 500 people will get direct employment when the project begins. The company currently manufactures overhead electricity cables, cantilevers, electric plugs etc. for Indian Railways also.
