Tender floated for Skywalk at Noida Sector 15 Metro Station

Tender for a skywalk to connect the Sector 15 metro station to an intersection nearby have been floated. Once ready, the skywalk will help pedestrians cross over the busy intersection. The intersection has the Udyog Marg crossing through the main Dadri road and is located close to the metro station exit.

This is the first major intersection for commuters heading to Noida from Ashok Nagar in Delhi. At present, commuters have no option but to cross the busy stretch by interrupting vehicular movement. Jaywalking across the street is extremely common though a traffic signal has been installed there.

Officials in the Noida Authority said the project had been assigned a budget of Rs 2.2 crore. The tenders were floated on Monday and the project would be commissioned on a build-operate-transfer basis. The agency that will build the skywalk will be given the option of putting up hoardings and signage across the bridge in order to generate revenue through advertising rights.

The skywalk will be transferred to the Noida Authority after eight years. The skywalk will help metro passengers and pedestrians to exit towards New Ashok Nagar, Sector 14 and Sector 2. The project has been in the pipeline for several years.

The Authority had proposed to float tenders in May, but the bidding process had to be shelved for the time being after the Covid outbreak.
