Kolkata Metro official awarded for revving up non-fare revenue

Metro Railway’s deputy chief operations manager (commercial) Kausik Mitra was bestowed with the outstanding performance award at this year’s National Railways Award presentation ceremony in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, 28th May 2022.

During the Railway week, Indian Railways gives awards to staff and officers for their outstanding performance in every year. Arun Arora, GM, Metro Railway congratulated him and wished him all the best.

A Metro press release said, “Mitra is one of the outstanding officers of Metro Railway. He has demonstrated outstanding ability and leadership by substantially improving the earnings from non-fare revenue (NFR) in Metro Railway, Kolkata. He has used his acumen to identify the resources which can fetch earnings and followed up with the procedural requirement to generate revenue.

The release added, “With Mitra’s persistent efforts, diligence and commitment, Metro Railway has been able to achieve the earnings of Rs.19.45 crores from non-fare revenue (NFR) in the financial year 2021-22, which is 71% more than the previous financial year.” Metro Railway has successfully done station branding of smartcards, card balance checking terminal, automatic smartcard recharge machine, health and wellness kiosks, educational kiosks and standee, automatic fare collection and passenger control gate and handle chain branding inside rakes and so on.
