The Namma Metro Network in Bengaluru is likely to add another crucial line to its network by July. The Yellow Line connecting RV Road in south Bengaluru to Bommasandra in the southeast part of the city is expected to become operational in three months.
Starting from the RV Road station on the Green Line, this new Yellow Line, will intersect with the upcoming Pink Line (Gottigere-Nagawara) at Jayadeva hospital and with Blue Line at Central Silk Board Station and will proceed to Bommasandra.
This 19-kilometer corridor has 16 stations connecting several busy and key areas. The stations are Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road (RV Road), Ragigudda, Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Central Silk Board, Bommanahalli, Hongasandra, Kudlu Gate, Singasandra, Hosa Road, Beratena Agrahara, Konappana Agrahara, Electronic City, Huskuru Road, Hebbagodi and Bommasandra.
According to Metro sources, the majority of the works of tracks and stations have been completed and final works are underway. If the work proceeds as planned, the line will be opened by late July or early August, the sources said.
However, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) authorities did not confirm the development. The Model Code of Conduct is in place in the state for the upcoming assembly elections, which are scheduled to be held on May 10.
The Bengaluru Metro recently opened the the 13.7 Purple Line extension from Baiyappanahalli to Whitefield line. This is the first Namma Metro line to the IT Corridor.
Another small stretch from Kengeri to Challaghatta is also expected to open soon. This will enhance connectivity from the Challaghatta region to Mysuru Road, which is one of the fastest-growing locations in the city.
According to BMRC Managing Director Anjum Parwez, they are on track to complete 175 km of Metro network in the city by June 2025.
